Midget A squad returns to ice, honors fallen teammate with win

The Batavia Fisher Sports NY Ramparts midget A youth hockey team recently returned to action for the first time since the death of teammate Collin Crane in a Dec. 8 car accident.

And the Ramparts made him proud.

In fitting manner, Batavia paid tribute to their fallen teammate -- who wore jersey No. 9 -- by netting that many goals in a 9-3 rout over Rochester Youth.

The Ramparts hung Crane's jersey behind their bench and also skated around a faceoff circle and touched the ice in his memory. The teams also had a moment of silence prior to the contest.

Following the game, Batavia team members gathered in front of their net and said a prayer for Crane.

During the game, Nate Jonathan led the Ramparts with a hat trick, while Matt Tambe notched two goals and an assist. Also scoring for Batavia were Tim Martell (two assists), Garrett Rustay (one assist), David Thuerck and David Schmeider.

In other youth hockey games recently:

Midget MOHL BATAVIA 7, HAMBURG 0: Tommy Zacher turned aside all 17 shots he faced and Parker Brinkworth and Zack Laird each had two goals and two assists as the Ken Barrett Ramparts blasted Hamburg.

Jake Dominesey (two assists), Tyler Arnold (one assist) and Adam McCoy also lit the lamp for Batavia, Other assists were credited to Ben Madafferi, Joe Ryan and Alec Seppala.

BATAVIA 4, CHEEKTOWAGA 0: The Ramparts got more shutout goaltending from Tommy Zacher -- who made 27 saves -- in knocking off the previously undefeated Warriors.

Ryan Tenney paced the Batavia offense with a goal and two assists. Also finding the net for the Ramparts were Jake Dominesey, Ryan Barnhardt and Riley Vallance. Trevor Schimley, Grant Herson and Ben Madafferi notched assists.

BATAVIA 3, CAZENOVIA 3: Tyler Arnold scored twice in the Ramparts' tie with Cazenovia.

Jake Bower had the other Batavia goal, with assists going to Jake Rosecrans, Taylor Wyder, Ben Madafferi and Jake Dominesey.

Bantam B BATAVIA 4, ROCHESTER YOUTH 0: Dusty Lauer scored twice and added an assist to back the shutout goaltending of Alex Mott as the Garland Enterprises Ramparts zipped Rochester Youth.

Katie Smith and Dylan DeMarzo added single goals for Batavia.

GENESEO 3, BATAVIA 2: The Ramparts fought valiantly but came up short against Geneseo.

Dylan DeMarzo and Dusty Lauer scored for Batavia.

MONROE COUNTY 9, BATAVIA 4: Riley Kusmierski netted a pair of goals in the Ramparts' loss to Monroe County.

Batavia also received goals from Tommy Mellon and Casey Austin and assists from Katie Smith and Jacob Cryer.

BATAVIA 3, GENESEO 3: Two goals from Dylan DeMarzo and one from Riley Kusmierski helped the Ramparts play to a tie with Geneseo.

Bantam A

WEBSTER 4, BATAVIA 3: A furious late rally by the Turnbull Heating and Air Ramparts fell short in a close loss at Webster.

Batavia trailed 3-1 with four minutes remaining before goals by Zac Dusky and Jacob Kasmarek tied the score. After Webster took the lead again, Batavia appeared to score the tying goal, but it was ruled to have been scored after the final horn.

Dylan D'Alba scored the other Batavia goal. Tyler Kota had two assists for the Ramparts, while Zac Smith and Hayden London posted singles.

Tier III squirts go outdoors, beat Hamburg

The Batavia Ramparts squirt Tier III youth hockey team traveled to East Aurora's outdoor rink last weekend and defeated the Hamburg Hawks 4-3.

Max Hertel led the Ramparts with a pair of goals, while Alex Totten and Jedidiah Reese also found the net. Colin Kratz assisted on three goals, with Kyle Young and Maxwell Hutchins adding single assists.

Also playing well for Batavia were Chase Pangrazio, Levi Grimm, Conner Peterson, Drew Bower and goaltender Josh Barber.

In other youth hockey action recently:

Squirt Tier III BATAVIA 2, WEST SENECA 2: The Wings got the equalizer late in the second period to forge a tie with the Ramparts.

After West Seneca got on the board first, Colin Kratz and Maxwell Hutchins scored first-period goals to put the Ramparts ahead 2-1.

Others who played well for Batavia were Sam Chmielowiec, Connor Peterson, Sean Pies, Cam Smith, Maxwell Tenney, Alex Totten, Kyle Young and goalie Josh Barber.

Pee Wee B BATAVIA 10, WEBSTER 4: The Jensen BRV Engineering PLLC Ramparts scored six times -- three by Evan Dusky -- in the third period to roll past Webster.

Dusky finished the game with four goals, while Jimmy Reardon notched a goal in each period en route to a hat trick. Bailey Carney, Nick Baumler and Shane McClurg also lit the lamp for Batavia, while assists were credited to Dusky, Reardon, Baumler and McClurg.

BATAVIA 8, MONROE COUNTY 1: Colin Hunt scored twice in the third period to complete his hat trick to pace the Ramparts to a big win over Monroe County.

Bailey Carney also recorded three goals for Batavia, with others coming from Jimmy Reardon and Aidan Franclemont. Assisting were Franclemont, Cameron Peterson, Seth Seppala, Noah Robbins, Nick Baumler and Andrew Freeman.

BATAVIA 9, MONROE COUNTY 2: The Ramparts improved their record to 6-1 by blasting Monroe County again.

Bailey Carney and Jimmy Reardon each scored twice to lead Batavia, while Nick Baumler, Evan Dusky, Mitchel Pangrazio, Colin Hunt and Seth Seppala also tallied. Baumler, Pangrazio, Reardon and Cameron Peterson had assists.

Pee Wee Tier III

BATAVIA 5, NIAGARA JR. PURPLE EAGLES 1: The Castilone Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ramparts stayed undefeated in league play by defeating the Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles.

Ethan Hutchins had a pair of goals, while Grant Hens, Mark Anauo, and Devin Grimshaw also found the net for Batavia. Cameron Ells, Baylee D'Alba and Hagan Triftshauser were credited with assists. Jacob Snieszko secured the win in goal.

BATAVIA 6, NIAGARA COYOTES 1: The Ramparts remained the top seed for the state tournament by routing the previously unbeaten Niagara Coyotes in a state qualifying game.

Devin Grimshaw and Ethan Hutchins lit the lamp twice each for Batavia, while Mark Anauo and Sam Sallome had sinlges. Cameron Ells and Baylee D'Alba chipped in with assists in support of winning goaltender Ethan Conrad.

Midget MOHL

BATAVIA 3, MID-STATE 1: Tyler Arnold's two goals proved to be the difference as the Ken Barrett Ramparts topped Mid-State.

Jake Rosecrans also found the net for Batavia, which received assists from Ryan Warner, Jake Bower and Trevor Schimley. Jimmy Johnson was the winning goaltender.

BATAVIA 3, GENESEO 3: Ben Madafferi netted two goals and Jake Dominesey one in the Ramparts' tie with Geneseo.

Tyler Arnold notched two assists for Batavia.

Midget Empire A BATAVIA 7, MONROE COUNTY SOUTH 1: Adam Siedlecki netted two goals to lead a balanced attack for the Batavia Fisher Sports Ramparts to a convincing win over Monroe County South.

Matt Tambe (one assist), Danny Hinca (one assist), Erin Hens, Nate Jonathan and David Thuerck also scored for Batavia, which received other assists from C.J. Norton and Tim Martell.

BATAVIA 5, MONROE COUNTY NORTH 1: Nate Jonathan scored one goal and set up two others in the Ramparts' triumph over Monroe County North.

Also scoring for Batavia were Danny Hinca (one assist), Collin Crane, Matt Tambe and Will Smith. David Thuerck, Tim Martell and Adam Siedlecki posted other assists.

Bantam B BATAVIA 7, WEBSTER 2: Dustin Laur registered a hat trick to power the Garland Enterprises Ramparts to a convincing win over Webster.

Dylan DeMarzo notched two goals for Batavia, which also received singles from Casey Austin and Riley Kusmierski. Posting assists were Austin (two), Kyle Conners (two), DeMarzo, Laur, Shane Freeman and John Houseknecht.

Bantam A GENESEO 3, BATAVIA 2: Geneseo remained undefeated in league play as it held on to edge the Turnbull Heating and Air Ramparts in Geneseo.

Zac Dusky and Zac Smith scored Batavia's goals with Jacob Kasmarek getting an assist on Smith's goal.

J.T. Turnbull stopped 33 of 36 shots for the Ramparts.

Try Hockey For Free - Session 2 - A Tremendous Success

The 2nd session of Try Hockey for Free was a tremendous success!

We had 59 kids participate in the session on Saturday!

The Pee Wee Tier III team and coaches hosted the event on the ice and did an outstanding job for this event which is tremendously important for USA Hockey and our organization!

As always special thanks to Chaunda and Stephanie for setting up the program, advertising it, and making sure it ran smoothly for the participants.

Ramparts take fourth in state tournament

The Castilone Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ramparts pee wee Tier III youth hockey team capped off a strong season with a fourth-place finish at the New York State 12-and-under Tournament in Amherst recently.

In their first game, the Ramparts disposed of Cortland 5-3 thanks to Ethan Hutchins’ four goals — the first of which came eight seconds into the game.

Sam Sallome also lit the lamp for Batavia, which received assists from Cameron Ells, Jared Hardies, Mark Anauo, Devin Grimshaw, Grant Hens and Kevin Tourt.

Game two saw Batavia overcome a three-goal first-period deficit to stun Chazy Youth 4-3.

Baylee D’Alba and Hardies scored in the second period to bring the Ramparts within 3-2. Sallome tied the game in the third period, then Grimshaw notched the game-winning tally with four minutes left. Grimshaw, Ells and D’Alba had assists.

In the third game, Bronxville scored three times in the third period to break a tie and went on to defeat Batavia 5-2.

Grimshaw and Zac Akin found the net for the Ramparts, with D’Alba posting an assist.

Batavia advanced to the semifinals, but ran into Tri-Town — the top-ranked team in the North — and lost 5-0.

Tri-Town went on to win the state title.

Jacob Snieszko and Ethan Conrad split goaltending duties throughout the weekend for Batavia.

The Ramparts were coached by Mike Reich.

Fourteen players recorded at least one point as the Ken Barrett Ramparts midget MOHL youth hockey team whipped Wheatfield 11-0 in recent action.

Parker Brinkworth led the onslaught with two goals and an assist, while Ben Madafferi, Grant Herson and Joe Ryan each had a goal and an assist.

Jake Dominesey, Trevor Foster, Adam McCoy, Trevor Schimley, Tyler Arnold and Ryan Tenney also lit the lamp for Batavia, which received other assists from Jake Bates, Zack Laird, Alec Seppala and Riley Vallance.

In other youth hockey games recently:

Midget MOHL BATAVIA 8, WEST SENECA 1: For the second consecutive game, Parker Brinkworth collected two goals and one assist, powering the Ramparts to a convincing win over West Seneca.

Jake Dominesey, Ryan Tenney and Ben Madafferi posted a goal and an assist apiece for Batavia, which also saw Adam McCoy, Jake Bates and Trevor Foster find the net. Tyler Arnold and Grant Herson chipped in with assists.

MIdget A BATAVIA 6, WEBSTER 0: Matt Tambe registered a hat trick and added an assist as the Batavia FisherSports Ramparts rolled over Webster.

Adam Siedlecki (one assist), Brandon Habermas and Nate Jonathan notched single goals for Batavia, which also got assists from Will Smith and Danny Hinca.

Bantam A GENESEO 3, BATAVIA 1: The Turnbull Heating and Air Ramparts kept it close against the first-place Livingston Blues.

Cameron Ells notched a hat trick to power the Castilone Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ramparts pee wee youth hockey team to a 6-0 whitewash over Bud Bakewell in recent action.

Kevin Tourt (one assist), Sam Sallome and Ethan Hutchins also tallied for Batavia, while other assists came from Pierce Corbelli, Grant Hens and Zac Akin.

In other youth hockey games recently:

Pee Wee BATAVIA 6, WEBSTER 4: Thanks in part to another three-goal outing by Cameron Ells, the Ramparts rallied to defeat the Cyclones.

Grant Hens, Ethan Hutchins and Sam Sallome also found the net for Batavia, with assists being credited to Hutchins, Baylee D'Alba and Devin Grimshaw. Jakob Snieszko and Ethan Conrad split time in goal.

BATAVIA 3, FREDONIA 0: Jakob Snieszko registered the shutout in goal as the Ramparts blanked the Steelers.

Baylee D'Alba, Devin Grimshaw and Cameron Ells scored for Batavia, while Ells, D'Alba and Pierce Corbelli drew assists.

BATAVIA 6, OLEAN 0: Ethan Hutchins recorded a hat trick to support the shutout goaltending of Ethan Conrad as the Ramparts remained undefeated in league play with a triumph over Olean.

Hagan Triftshauser, Cameron Ells and Devin Grimshaw added single goals for Batavia, and assists went to Hutchins, Grimshaw, Pierce Corbelli, Zac Akin, Roger Barnes and Sam Sallome.

Pee Wee B BATAVIA 7, ROCHESTER YOUTH 0: Mitchell Pangrazio posted his second shutout of the season in just four games to backstop the Jensen BRV Engineering PLLC Ramparts to a convincing win over Rochester Youth.

Nick Baumler and Bailey Carney paced the offense with two goals each, with singles coming from Evan Dusky, Seth Seppala and Jimmy Reardon. Assists went to Baumler, Dusky, Shane McClurg, Aidan Franclemont and Cameron Peterson.

Midget A BATAVIA 10, PERINTON 1: Adam Siedlecki registered a hat trick and Brandon Habermas struck for a pair of goals as the Fisher Sports Ramparts pounded Perinton.

Tyler Tambe, Tim Martell and Nate Jonathan collected a goal and two assists apiece, with other goals coming from David Thuerck and Grant Schum. Additional assists were notched by Will Smith (two), Collin Crane, Matt Tambe, Danny Hinca and David Schmeider.

Midget MOHL BATAVIA 6, AMHERST 0: Tommy Zacher recorded the shutout in goal and Jake Dominesey scored three times as the Ken Barrett Ramparts zipped the Knights.

Joe Ryan added two goals and an assist and Jake Bates also found the net for Batavia. Zack Laird notched two assists and Riley Vallance one.

BATAVIA 4, BUFFALO 1: The Ramparts upped their record to 4-1 in league play by topping the Bisons.

Parker Brinkworth (one assist), Adam McCoy, Ryan Warner and Grant Herson lit the lamp for Batavia, which got two assists from Tyler Arnold and one from Trevor Schimley.

Bantam B BATAVIA 3, WEBSTER 2: Casey Austin netted all three goals -- including the game-winner in the third period off a Jack Houseknecht assist -- for the Garland Enterprises Ramparts in their close victory over Webster.

Tommy Mellon and Dylan DeMarzo also had assists.

MONROE COUNTY 6, BATAVIA 1: Dylan DeMarzo tallied off a Casey Austin assist for the Ramparts' lone goal in their loss to Monroe County.

Bantam Tier III BATAVIA 6, BUFFALO 5: Michael Hagelberger's goal in the third period proved to be the winner as the Logo It Ramparts nipped the Bisons.

Ryan Antinore netted a pair of goals for Batavia, while Grant Dock, Jake Natalizia and Sam Haile also found the net. Collecting assists were Natalizia (two), Ryan Webster (two), Hagelberger, Haile and Josh Hylkema.

Christian D'Angelo, Alex Jones, Reid Rademacker and Bradley Misiak also performed well.

BATAVIA 4, DEPEW 1: Cole Boller scored twice and Reid Rademacker collected a goal and two assists in the Ramparts' triumph over the Saints.

Ryan Antinore had the other Batavia goal, with other assists coming from Jonathan Barber, Grant Dock and Jake Natalizia. Cole Hudson and Bryan Moscicki led the defensive effort in front of goaltender J.T. Turnbull.

OLEAN 4, BATAVIA 3: Bryan Moscicki netted two goals and Alex Jones one for the Ramparts in their loss to Olean.

Ryan Antinore and Grant Dock had assists.

NIAGARA 5, BATAVIA 0: Despite peppering the Niagara goaltender with 34 shots, the Ramparts could not score as they were blanked by the Jr. Purple Eagles.

Andrew Freeman's unassisted goal in the third period proved to be the winner as the Jensen BRV Engineering, PLLC Ramparts pee wee B youth hockey team beat Scottsville 4-3 for its first victory of the season.

Evan Dusky scored two goals and Seth Seppala one for Batavia, which got two assists from Jimmy Reardon and one from Bailey Carney.

BATAVIA 8, OLEAN 2: Two-goal outings by Cameron Ells and Ethan Hutchins powered the Castilone Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ramparts to a convincing win over Olean.

Also scoring for Batavia were Devin Grimshaw, Grant Hens, Sam Sallome and Mark Anauo. Hutchins, Sallome and Zac Akin contributed assists.

BATAVIA 4, LIVINGSTON 0: Ethan Hutchins registered a hat trick and assisted on Hagan Triftshauser's goal as the Ramparts blanked the Blues.

Devin Grimshaw also had an assist for Batavia.

BATAVIA 3, WEST SENECA 1: The Ramparts remained unbeaten in league play by defeating West Seneca.

Baylee D'Alba, Sam Sallome and Ethan Hutchins found the net for Batavia.

BATAVIA 6, JAMESTOWN 1: Jared Hardies' two goals led the way as the Ramparts routed Jamestown.

Ethan Hutchins, Devin Grimshaw, Cameron Ells and Kevin Tourt notched singles for Batavia, while Grimshaw, Baylee D'Alba and Roger Barnes were credited with assists.

Ethan Conrad and Jacob Snieszko split time in the net for all four games.

Squirt Tier III MONROE COUNTY 5, BATAVIA 3: Monroe County scored four unanswered goals in the third period to erase a two-goal deficit and beat the Ramparts.

Maxwell Hutchins and Max Hertel each scored and set up the other for a goal, while Levi Grimm also scored. Others playing well were Max Tenney, Chase Pangrazio, Cam Smith, Jedidiah Reese. Sean Pies, Drew Bower and Kyle Young.

BATAVIA 5, OLEAN 3: Max Hertel registered a hat trick and added an assist in the Ramparts' triumph over Olean.

Colin Kratz and Levi Grimm also lit the lamp for Batavia. The Ramparts saw strong play from Conner Peterson, Sam Chmielow-iec, Max Hutchins, Alex Totten, Drew Bower and Kyle Young.

Midget A BATAVIA 6, MONROE COUNTY 0: Christian Bale made 29 saves in posting the shutout in goal to backstop the Ramparts to a whitewash over Monroe County.

Adam Siedlecki led the Batavia offense with three goals and one assist, while Danny Hinca (two assists), Nate Jonathan (one assist) and Matt Tambe also scored. Tim Martell chipped in with an assist.

Bantam A BATAVIA 8, CANANDAIGUA 3: Jacob Kasmarek and Dylan D'Alba scored two goals each to lead the Turnbull Heating and Air Ramparts to a win over Canandaigua.

Brad Misiak, Brent Schum, Tyler Kota and Mike Smith also tallied single goals for the Ramparts in their league opener.

Zac Dusky and Hayden London had two assists each for the Ramparts, while Bryce D'Alba, Zac Smith and Michael Hagelberger each had assists.

J.T. Turnbull got the win in goal for Batavia.
