Hinca powers Midget A squad

Danny Hinca lit the lamp twice and assisted on a third goal to power the Batavia Ramparts Midget A youth hockey team to a 7-2 rout over Webster in its season opener recently

Brandon Habermas (one assist), Nate Jonathan, Collin Crane, Tyler Tambe and David Thuerck also scored for Batavia, while other assists were credited to Alyssa Baumler, Tim Martell and Adam Siedlecki.

In other youth hockey action:

Pee Wee Tier III BATAVIA 2-1-1 IN TOURNEY: The Castilone Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ramparts went 2-1-1 and finished in third place in the Canandaigua Tournament.

In their first game, the Ramparts dropped a 4-1 decision to the hosts.

Ethan Hutchins scored the only Batavia goal, assisted by Devin Grimshaw. Jacob Snieszko played well in goal against the strong Knights.

Game two saw Batavia play to a 4-all tie with the Southtown Stars.

Hutchins netted a pair of goals to pace the Ramparts, who got singles from Cameron Ells and Kevin Tourt. Pierce Corbelli and Mark Anauo picked up assists and Ethan Conrad was solid between the pipes.

The Ramparts then edged Oswego 3-2 on goals from Ells, Hutchins and Grimshaw.

Ells and Jared Hardies notched assists for Batavia.

The consolation game was a rematch with Oswego, and the result was the same as the Ramparts won 3-2.

Sam Sallome led the Batavia offense with two goals, while Ells also found the net. Assists went to Tourt, Grimshaw, Baylee D'Alba and Zac Aiken. Snieszko and Conrad split time in goal.
