The Batavia Fisher Sports NY Ramparts midget A youth hockey team recently returned to action for the first time since the death of teammate Collin Crane in a Dec. 8 car accident.

And the Ramparts made him proud.

In fitting manner, Batavia paid tribute to their fallen teammate -- who wore jersey No. 9 -- by netting that many goals in a 9-3 rout over Rochester Youth.

The Ramparts hung Crane's jersey behind their bench and also skated around a faceoff circle and touched the ice in his memory. The teams also had a moment of silence prior to the contest.

Following the game, Batavia team members gathered in front of their net and said a prayer for Crane.

During the game, Nate Jonathan led the Ramparts with a hat trick, while Matt Tambe notched two goals and an assist. Also scoring for Batavia were Tim Martell (two assists), Garrett Rustay (one assist), David Thuerck and David Schmeider.
